CREATIVITY RESEARCH INITIATIVE
Creativity is a broadly used term in the context of innovation management, new product development, advertising, entrepreneurship, leadership and organizational management. In order to find answers for today’s complex strategic questions, businesses initiate their journey to find creative solutions to manage their change and exploit new opportunities. Therefore, creativity is essential not only for adapting to changing business contexts, but also for proactively making an impact on markets and industries. However, at this point businesses face a paradoxical situation. Today creativity is increasingly positioned at the core of competitiveness in the changing business setting; however, there is a gap of research and applicability issues concerning effective creativity management and development of practice-oriented approaches. Inspired by such research possibilities, our Creativity Research Initiative is an attempt to explore creativity as a core business paradigm to maximize future success opportunities in a complex and competitive business environment.
The Background of the Creativity Research Initiative
The Creativity Research Initiative was inspired by the Faculty of Business Management at Vilniaus Kolegija / University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania under the framework of a European Union funded project for creativity development. The project gave birth to a multinational triple-university degree study program in “Creativity and Business Innovations” (Project No. VP1-2.2-ŠMM-07-K-02-078). The Program incorporates different innovative thinking and creativity-driven approaches into the curriculum and advances creativity application to different interdisciplinary business contexts. Until recently, this unique study program has been the only study program in Europe which applies "Creative Platform" approach, developed in Denmark and successfully implemented all over the world.

Since then, the Faculty of Business Management has been developing its Creativity Research Initiative by integrating creativity-driven research within academic, research and corporate settings. Faced with complex, ever-changing challenges, businesses realize that constant, ongoing innovation and adaptive creativity is essential to stay ahead of the competition and gain competitive advantage. Therefore, the Creativity Research Initiative aims at developing an ever-increasing know-how and research-driven knowledge potential on developing different creativity approaches towards business innovations, creative problem-solving, ideation management, complexity management, innovative entrepreneurship and creative leadership.
